![]() It doesn't play as well as the console ports, though, where a joypad is a much better alternative than a keyboard. The DOS game is perhaps the most complete, with the addition of a number of musical choices played in the background and menus. There were three versions released, each with subtle differences. You can find some interesting behind-the-scenes photos here. ![]() They're animated pretty well too and as such the visuals have stood the test of time in the same pleasing way Mortal Kombat has. ![]() The character sprites have been digitized from specially recorded footage of the wrestlers themselves and give the game a nice look. The latter will have your character run towards the nearest rope ready to bounce off with an attack, which can make for some good looking moves. ![]() Each has their own special moves with buttons assigned to two types of punches and kicks as well as a block and run button. To top of the list, there's Ahmed Johnson, Vader, Ultimate Warrior, Owen Hart, Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, British Bulldog, Shayne Michaels and the freakily conceived Goldust. This was after Hulk Hogan and before The Rock so the biggest names here are probably Bret 'Hitman' Hart or the Undertaker. With 10 wrestling superstars available, there's sure to be at least one name you recognise that broke into the mainstream. It has a very different feel to the likes of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, and with the massive influx of fighters in the 90s, that's a good thing. This plays like a typical 2D fighter but with a focus on grapples and rope bouncing. WWF In Your House is one of the better examples of the licence when it came out is 1996, a few years before the formula was perfected with the 3D Wrestlemania games. They tended to be an over-the-top take a realistic(ish) sport though not all of them were that great - especially in the early days. What I could get into was their brand of fighting games. I was never really into WWF (now known as WWE) although I had a few friends that were fans.
